On 18 July 2025, Mandela Day was observed at The Salvation Army Ezakheni Corps C2. During the event, the Manager of the Ladysmith Hospice Association received a donation from a local resident – an act reminiscent of Madiba’s enduring commitment to social responsibility.
Senior citizens, people with disabilities, and other community members gathered for the programme, which focused on care and support. Clothing was distributed to older persons, and crutches were provided to individuals living with disabilities by the Ladysmith Hospice Association.
Primary healthcare workers from the hospice team were present, offering support and assistance throughout the event. Representatives from Ezakheni C Clinic, the Department of Social Development, Ezakheni C Police Station, the Ward Councillor’s office, Correctional Services, Cornerstone, and Ladysmith Hospice Association also attended.
The day ended with a shared meal prepared by hospice caregivers, bringing everyone together in warmth and fellowship. The event at Ezakheni Corps demonstrated the strength of community working together to support those in need.
