Today marks the start of the 16 Days of Activism campaign, and the Territorial Headquarters (THQ) family came together with Central Division DHQ staff, the Cadets, and the Mission Team to launch this important initiative. The event was led by Vusi Malala and began with a warm welcome from the Territorial President of Women’s Ministries, Commissioner Deise Eliasen, followed by a time of worship and prayer.

Lieut Colonel Doris Dlamini shared a challenging message from the Word, urging everyone to take action against gender-based violence (GBV) in a way that reflects God’s heart for justice and compassion. Her words were a stirring reminder that faith must move us to act.

The programme included an informative presentation by THQ Gender Justice Team Social Worker Bonisiwe Mbatha, who unpacked the various forms of GBV and its devastating impact. Alicia, a survivor of domestic violence, shared her story, expressing gratitude to The Salvation Army for its support for her and her two children. Major Noluntu Semeno highlighted the many social services The Salvation Army offers, emphasizing the practical help available to those in need.

The Mission Team moved hearts with a creative ministry presentation, using drama and dance to portray the reality of GBV and inspire hope for a better world. The programme concluded with words of encouragement from the Territorial Secretary for Women’s Ministries, Lieut Colonel Nokuthula Mahlobo, and a benediction from Philippians 1:9–11, reminding everyone to abound in love and discernment. After the formal proceedings, some of the THQ team took to the streets in the surrounding community to raise awareness about GBV, demonstrating their commitment to making a difference.

As we journey through these 16 days, let us not only speak out against GBV but take meaningful action to create change. What are you doing to make an impact? Together, we can leave no one behind in the fight for justice and dignity.
