On 9 August, the Imbali Corps came alive with colour, joy, and unity as women and girls from all walks of life gathered to celebrate Women’s Day under the theme, “From Queens to Princesses: A Journey Through Her Story.” The day was led by the Young Women’s Fellowship secretary, B. Sithole, who ensured that every part of the programme flowed.
The day started with Praise & Worship, filling the venue with songs of gratitude and praise. This was followed by an Opening Prayer led by HLS Majola, inviting God’s presence to guide the programme and bless every heart present.
The introduction of the theme was presented by Asamnkele Loliwe, who painted a picture of what it means to journey through “Her Story” – honouring the wisdom of the “Queens” who came before us, while empowering the “Princesses” of today to embrace their identity and walk boldly into their future.
Laughter and excitement quickly filled the room with an Ice Breaker session, as the Home League Treasurer, S. Dlamini. led indigenous games and TikTok challenges, reminding everyone that joy and playfulness are as much a part of heritage as tradition and wisdom.
The Topics of the Day offered moments of learning, reflection, and inspiration:
- Feminine Identity & Cultural Pride: Ms L. Buthelezi spoke about understanding womanhood within our traditions and values, encouraging women to stand tall in their identity while respecting their cultural roots.
- Storytelling of Women’s Lives: Mrs T. Zuma, along with other elders, shared real-life stories filled with lessons of perseverance, faith, and love, passing down wisdom to younger generations.
- Role Modelling & Mentorship: Corps Secretary H. Langa explored how building strong bonds between queens and princesses can shape confident, responsible, and grounded young women.
- Fun Educational Activities from Past Generations: the Young People’s Sergeant Major Z. Manana brought back the joy of games, songs, and practices from the days of our mothers and grandmothers, teaching lessons hidden in playful traditions.
As the day drew to a close, Lt Makebesana led the Devotion, reminding all present of the spiritual foundation that solidifies true womanhood. The event concluded with a Closing Prayer by Assistant Home League Secretary JG Mchunu, sealing the day with blessings of unity, strength, and grace.
The “From Queens to Princesses” celebration was a bridge between generations, a reminder that Her Story is still being written, and that every queen and princess has a role to play in shaping the future.
