Cadet Sibongile Ngobeni shares her testimony with The War Cry.
It feels like yesterday when I arrived at the College For Officer Training (CFOT) filled with so much fear of the unknown, yet still excited to be in a new environment with people from different places. And look now, College is almost over within a blink of an eye, and I must say what an amazing journey it has been. I saw God in everything! I saw God in my everyday life, from waking up in the morning till I went to bed at night, both at College and during out-training. God was working in my life, and He still is!
Answering the call of God upon my life was the best thing to do, and I encourage others that feel the call to answer it too. At times we don’t answer the call because we feel like we are not good enough, we feel like ‘How can a nobody like me be called?’ and at times you feel like I can’t do this and I can’t do that. Those feelings are normal, almost every candidate that comes to College feels like that, and the CFOT is there to help develop us into the leaders we need to be.
… I learned to lead and serve.
God used my time at the CFOT to grow and develop me through the lectures. In College, they not only delivered lectures but also shared life and ministry lessons based on their experiences. Through daily activities like morning devotions, I got to read and research the Bible which helped me to get to know the Word of God better and better. Through preaching, I got used to standing in front of people whereas before I wasn’t be able to do that. Through orderly responsibilities and kitchen duty, I learned to lead and to serve. The CFOT staff members supported me and always encouraged me to do better each time.
Philippians 1:6 says: ‘He who began a good work will carry it into completion till the day of Jesus Christ.‘ I came into College with that verse, and I live it every day. As I prepare to start on the Officership journey, I know that God will carry me till the end just like He did during the two amazing years of being at the CFOT.
