Cadet Anesu Mbofana from the Western Cape Division says growing up in a Christian home resulted in the best foundation being laid in her life! Read more of her story:
Being raised by a single parent, sometimes finances wouldn’t allow us to go to church every Sunday, as it was quite a distance from our home to Bonteheuwel Corps. Still, we would try to go to church maybe twice a month. Whenever that happened, I always looked forward to Sunday worship.
In 2019, I heard the call of God strongly upon my life to go into full-time ministry. Responding to being called at a very young age was never an easy decision to make. In 2021, I was accepted for entry into the College for Officer Training (CFOT) in 2022, and to be honest, I don’t see myself doing anything else with my life other than serving the Lord. My first year as a cadet was truly remarkable experience. The College environment encourages you to step out of your comfort zone, encouraging growth in a beautiful and transformative manner. It stretches you beyond the familiar, allowing you to blossom in ways you could never imagine. My second year has been my best year of College where my calling has been confirmed so many times.
As I look forward to our commissioning, I am excited to serve God and His people. I would choose officership over and over again! My favourite verse this year has been Joshua 1:9, ‘Be strong and courageous, do not be frightened and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.’ I look forward to the future as God continues the work He has already started in my life.
