In partnership with The Salvation Army and Major Margaret Stafford, A21 facilitated an ECPP facilitators training in Central Division on 17th May 2024, at Johannesburg City Corps.
In attendance were Early Childhood Development educators from various NGOs, including Officer Administrators and educators from all The Salvation Army crèches and family centres in Central Division. Also present were Major Sengeziwe Nhandara (Divisional Director of Women’s Ministries), Major Iris Zungu (Divisional MSHTR Coordinator), and Major Colleen Huke (Divisional Social Secretary).

As the saying goes, “Prevention is better than cure,” so it is vitally important to create awareness around trafficking and promote safe practices from an early age that will help to prevent our children from becoming just another human trafficking statistic.
The Early Childhood Prevention Programme (ECPP) is a child-centered, activity-based programme designed to empower vulnerable children, ages 3-6, in an age-appropriate way. It equips them practically with safety tools for protection as they navigate potentially dangerous situations in their environments.

The programme consists of just three sessions with two parts in each and can be tailored according to the needs of the facilitators and children. Session topics are: “Trusted & Tricky People,” “Safe & Unsafe Communication,” and “Invited & Uninvited Touch.” Each part of the session can be facilitated in 30 minutes to one hour and is available in 14 languages.

Although the training was facilitated by A21, if you were not there in person but are in a position to influence children in this age group for good, why not register to take the “Facilitator Training E-Course”? You will find all the needed information and resources on their website: A21.org/Join the fight/Education.
